Welcome to the web GIS Viewer for Environmental Literacy and Inquiry. Changes in web GIS technologies have resulted in minor issues with the original web map and prompted us to publish an updated version.
The original web map is still available. However, please be aware that updates on the server have caused some tools for querying the databases to stop working properly. Only the tools for querying the database have been impacted. Most tools still work properly (as described in the documentation).
We have published an updated version that provides the same core functionality using very similar tools. At first glance you will notice the interface is very similar. If you explore the tools you will notice that some of the search and query tools are gone.
These tools were replaced with a collapsible window that allows students to view a table of all the attributes for the important map layers. Students can explore each table by clicking the field names to sort the data. When a record is selected in the table, it is highlighted in the map. As the map is paned and zoomed, the table is updated with only the features that can be viewed on the map.
In addition to viewing the attribute table, students can now click the map to see a pop-up with information about each feature.
The updated map provides a more intuitive way for students to explore the data. Please,
let us know what you think.
